Franklin St Campus (Melbourne CBD) Library Service

The Franklin Street campus operates a 'virtual' library service. Students are also encouraged to visit and use the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus Library.

Collections

A small Reserve Collection of high-use material is located at Reception on the ground floor, for use within the Franklin St Campus building. Two items can be viewed for 3 hours upon presentation of a valid student ID card. Collections at the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus Library support teaching and research at the Franklin St Campus.

Borrowing Information

Try to get the articles and other online material you require yourself, via the Library Catalogue and Databases. If you need assistance contact the Library Research Help Desk.

For items which are not accessible online, Franklin St Campus staff and students can order books and journal articles from the La Trobe University Libraries as well as items not held by La Trobe University Libraries using the Document Delivery Service.

First login to Document Delivery, then register for remote delivery by clicking on Are you eligible for remote delivery?

You will then receive a confirmation email when your delivery details have been added to your record which will enable you to use the Document Delivery System. Please allow time for this to be processed before creating a document delivery request.

For instructions on ordering consult the Franklin St (City) Campus Document Delivery User Guide.

All books requested through the Document Delivery Service should be collected from Franklin St Campus Reception upon presentation of your student/staff LTU ID card. Journal articles/book chapters are delivered electronically.

Books in Reserve or 3 day loan can only be borrowed in person at the appropriate library.

Books may be returned:

  • in the return bins at Franklin St Campus Reception (Franklin St Campus staff/students only)
  • through the book chutes outside the Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus Library
  • by mail to Document Delivery, Library, La Trobe University, Victoria 3086, at your own cost.
