Code of Conduct

To ensure that the Library provides an appropriate environment for all clients for research, study and learning we ask that you conform to the following code of conduct:

  1. Quiet conversation is allowed only in places designated as discussion areas where quiet conversation is permitted (Library Regulation 30.2 part 15.2)
  2. Disruptive behaviour and excessive noise are not acceptable.
  3. The use of mobile phones is not permitted in the Library except in designated areas.
  4. No eating, drinking or smoking is permitted in the Library. Drinks in screw-top bottles are the only exception to this rule and are allowed in designated areas. (Library Regulation 30.2 part 15.3)
  5. Keep valuable items with you at all times. The Library is not responsible for personal belongings.
  6. Inform Library staff promptly of any concerns you have relating to the behaviour of other clients.

If users persist in noisy or disruptive behaviour and do not comply with the Library code of conduct, the matter will be referred to the University Librarian, and may result in a fine, borrowing privileges being withdrawn for a period of two weeks and/or exclusion from the library.

The library regulations are available at the Inquiry / Information Desk(s) or via the online Regulations.
