Bundoora: Improvement to computer access…
Many students have complained about long queues at the express computer terminals due to people spending long periods of time using Facebook and other social non-academic sites.
To help address this problem restrictions have now been placed on 8 of the express computers (stand-up computers) nearest the Library’s front entrance. These computers are restricted to the La Trobe University network.
Please leave a comment if you notice an improvement (or otherwise) in waiting time.

Historic Australian newspapers 1803-1954

The National Library of Australia has recently released a new database, Australian newspapers beta: historic Australian newspapers 1803-1954.
Available at: http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au
The BETA service is freely available to the public and currently contains 73,000 out of copyright newspaper pages (approx 730,000 individual articles) from 1803 onwards. As this service is still in development, only a selection of newspapers are currently available. Approximately 20,000 digitised newspaper pages will be added each week.
