The hours on the weekend need to be extended, as many university students work on these days and need to have access to internet and resources provided.
Even a 24 hour computer room, which has an access card for those who are genuinely interested could be made available (ie- Charles Sturt University Albury has this facility).

I work weekends and usually do not finish until after the library is closed on Saturday. The extra hours would be especially handy during teaching placements, as I also work weeknights and the weekend is valuable planning time. This is when I’d like to be gathering resources; a difficult task when I don’t have access to the library. The extra opening hours would be so beneficial and definitely appreciated!!!

Longer hours on the weekend is a definate positive. As stated allot of students need to work to support themselves throughout the semester. Having additional hours they could study within would reduce the conflict of study/work.

I think it’s a fantastic move by the Bendigo University to open the library on Sundays. I believe that the additional opening hours on both Saturday and Sunday would be beneficial to students, particularly with the looming exam period. By extending opening hours, students with work, sporting and other commitments would have a greater opportunity to use the library’s resources. I would support any move to give students wider access to utilise the library’s quiet study spaces, ICT and literature.

To Angela
As there a still a few students thatdo not have either internet access or even a computer that works having the extra hours on both Sat and Sun is a huge help. Especially during exam times, where students need to finish off assignments having access to to the uni books is again a huge help.

I agree with Ada. Saturday would suit much better, as I would rather study on a Saturday morning, then go out that night! So mostly Sunday is catching up on sleep, not getting up early to study!

Early mornings are a great idea. As an education student, this would make teaching rounds easier as we could at least use the printers or get materials before heading to school in the morning. By 8:30am (current library opening time) we are required to be at the schools. It’s impossible to prepare when you have to work straight after the school day, and the uni library closes before I finish work, then there’s no time in the morning to use the library.

I do not use the library on weekends, but I can see that it would be of value to other students, particularly those who do not have internet access outside of the Uni. If the Library can find the resources to allow extra weekend opening hours, this would be a good service.
