ABS Historical Publications
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has recently digitised an important compendium of Australian and New Zealand colonial data, A Statistical account of the seven colonies of Australasia. This material is being progressively loaded to the ABS website.
The material was compiled between 1890 and 1904. The 11 volumes bring together statistics for each of the colonies of Australia and New Zealand and are complemented by analysis and commentary. The publication also includes chapters on political divisions, areas and boundaries, climate, parliaments and defence.
Free publications and statistics are also available on the ABS website.

BANKSCOPE database trial

La Trobe Library is currently trialing* Bureau van Dijk’s BANKSCOPE database until October 11.
BANKSCOPE is a comprehensive, global database containing information on public and private banks. It includes information on 29,000 banks around the world with software for searching and analysis.
BANKSCOPE also provides ratings, rating reports, and country risk ratings and reports. Ratings are provided by 4 agencies and a total of 18 ratings are available.
