Celebrate International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (held on 8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

Why not join in by checking out The Perdita Manuscripts via the library catalogue?  Produced in association with the Perdita Project based at the University of Warwick and Nottingham Trent University, “Perdita” means “lost woman” and the quest of the Perdita Project has been to find early modern women authors who were “lost” because their writing exists only in manuscript form.

All the manuscripts were written or compiled by women in the British Isles during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and they have been sourced from archives and libraries across the United Kingdom and the USA.  They include Account Books, Almanacs, Auto/Biography, Calligraphy, Culinary Writing, Diaries, Drama, Historical writing, Medical writing, Prose, Religious writing, Travel writing and Verse.
