What’s happening on Level 3 at Bundoora?

Here’s an update of what’s going on and why:
- A major book relocation is taking place. While some sections of this move are complete, others are still in progress.
- Some books may not be in their expected place. Please be assured that this is only a temporary situation and is changing by the day. We are doing everything we possibly can to help students and staff either locate books they need or find alternative copies.
- There is a whiteboard located at the top of the stairs to level 3 with daily updates of call numbers which have been affected by the move. Please check the catalogue and the whiteboard before attempting to locate a book on the shelves.
- We have employed extra staff to help locate items and answer questions about the relocation. They are working on level 3 and are easily identifiable by their red t-shirts. Students and staff are also welcome to ask for assistance at the service desks on level 2.
This work is part of the Library Redevelopment Project and involves creating more student study space with natural light on level 3 (top floor) of the Library.
320,000 low-use and older books are being progressively relocated to the on-site store on level 1. This process is about 75% complete and is due to be finished by mid April. We are aware that the timing of these moves is less than ideal, but it has been unavoidable due to the building schedule.
It will all be worth it in the end! There will be more study space close to windows, items on the shelves on will be easier to find, and the titles will be more current.
Please leave a comment or email library@latrobe.edu.au.
You can also call the Inquiry Desk: 9479 2922, or Research Help Desk: 9479 2718, if you need help to locate items or would like further information about the relocations.
