NetLibrary access for Mac users

If you are a Mac user and have experienced problems accessing material on NetLibrary, try the following suggestion from technical support at Ebsco Publishing:

  • Use the Firefox browser with the free Schubert plugin.
  • If the Mac has an Intel chip processor, you will also need to set the Firefox browser to run in Rosetta emulation mode:
  1. Quit out of the browser.
  2. Go to the Applications folder and control-click on the Firefox browser application bundle.
  3. In the context menu select ‘Get Info’.
  4. Under the ‘General’ heading of the info dialogue box select ‘open using Rosetta’.
  5. Close the info dialogue box.

The first time NetLibrary is used with Firefox, it may not be configured to open the ebook pdf file type. If this is the case a  dialogue box, similar to the one below, will appear:

Select ‘choose’ and either:

  • navigate to the ‘library/internet plug-ins’ folder; then choose ‘pdf browser plugin.plugin’; or
  • navigate to the Applications folder in the hard drive, then the Adobe folder, and select the Adobe application.

If  Schubert is used, it will open in the same browser window. If  Adobe Reader 7 is used, the document will open in a separate window.
