New Level 1 spaces now open

Most of the new space on Level 1 (ground floor) of the Library at the Melbourne campus is NOW OPEN for your use!

Lots of students have already discovered what a great new space it is, with lots of comfortable seating and study tables, all with powerpoints for your laptop, and cool study booths with LCD screens.

Abram and Stefan in study booth

Abram and Stefan like the study booths - they said it makes them feel like they are in a spaceship!

Rachel Davis

Rachel started at mid year and says the new spaces are "...fantastic...they seem to be designed for modern learning, they acknowledge the way we have to work now!"

There are some pictures of the spaces here and a floorplan so you can see what is where here.

Express workstations, Inquiry desk, IT student help desk and Research help desks have all moved to Level 1. Entry doors and Reserve are still on Level 2. New ground level entrance will open in a couple of weeks when Agora facade is complete.

Come in and see for yourself, and let us know what you think. Leave a comment below or scribble it on one of the new write-on walls in the new space – with a whyteboard pen of course ;-) !

Ebook Library trial access until 4 August

La Trobe Library now has trial access to the Ebook Library (EBL) platform until July 30. UPDATE: Wednesday 4 August

A sample of books has been provided for the trial and is only a small selection of what is available on this platform.

The library is interested in your comments about the usability of the EBL platform, for example:

  • searching
  • reading & browsing
  • printing and downloading

What do you think of the features of EBL? For example, image view (scrolling across pages), PDF view, printing by page range or chapter, copy functionality to cut and paste directly from the ebook, full text search, notes – create, save and export, page/chapter skip, page sizing options, and the dictionary.

Please note: if you are working on a publicly accessible computer, you should always choose to read ebooks online via the EBL Online Reader rather than via the download option.

Please feel free to let us know what you think about this resource on our feedback form.
