David Golder: The ball; Snow in autumn; The Courilof affair, by Irene Némirovsky – an enjoyable  and thought provoking collection of novels by the Russian-born author of Suite Francaise, who died in Auschwitz in 1942

The age of Shiva, by Manil Suri – fascinating and vivid novel set in post independence India

The household guide to dying: a novel, by Debra Adelaide – moving and witty account of illness and dying
