From Design for Learning recommendations (draft,page 9) "A very promising example is the online Information Literacy Module which the Library has developed for the Faculty of Health Sciences. This module, which is now being adapted for use in other faculties, can be used by students to develop and self-assess their understanding of information literacy – a key element of the Inquiry/Research capability."
New information literacy (LibSkills) modules can be used to scaffold and support independent learning. Librarians can work in partnership with academics when creating new units to embedded research/inquiry skills in the curriculum, with constructively aligned assessment tasks, diagnostic tests, formative assessment, and a variety of other strategies.

The Building Blocks project: Embedding Inquiry/Research (information literacy) graduate capabilities into the curriculum- is investigating these issues and will hopefully find some answers to ensure that in the future the Library is able to deliver effective, systematic and sustainable information literacy programs that are part of the fabric of the curriculum across the University.
This project is the first step in a larger vision of all LTU graduates being information literate.
As we investigate the issues we will be asking many questions. Many of these questions will be explored in forums and workshop within the Library and the University.
The purpose of this site is to report on progress of the Project and to be able to extend the dialogue beyond the immediate project activities and timelines to the wider university and professional library community. Your comments are welcome.
