The Library at the Bundoora campus is undergoing a transformation!
In a $9.5m redevelopment project funded by the University and the Federal Government's Better Universities Renewal Funding, students and staff of the University will gain a more vibrant and contemporary library space that will include:
- 850 additional seats, up from approximately 1200 currently
- separate study lounges for staff and postgraduate students
- a greater variety of technology enabled and collaborative study spaces
- new consultation and training rooms
- a flexible café and gallery space adjoining the Agora, ideal for book launches and exhibitions
Works will start on Level 1 (ground floor) of the Library in January 2010. During this stage, the entrance to the Library will remain as it is on Level 2. After Level 1 is complete, works will begin on the south end of Level 2.
To allow for changing use of study space and to make way for the building works, approximately 18.5km of low use, older material and print material with electronic equivalents in other collections will be relocated to the Library's on-site and off-site stores (see Bundoora annexe) where it will remain accessible to staff and students.
The Library will do everything possible to keep any inconvenience to Library users to a minimum during the project. Current information will be posted regularly here at this website.
