Laptop Loan Policy
20 laptop computers are available for loan from the Audiovisual Desk at the Bundoora campus library. The laptops may be borrowed by students and staff of the University. The laptops connect to the University's wireless network, come equipped with standard software and support printing from the Library's public printers.
ELIGIBILITY: Laptop computer loans are restricted to current La Trobe University students and staff. You may not borrow a laptop if you have more than $10.00 in fines or if you have previously violated the laptop loan agreement.
LIABILITY: The user agrees to assume any and all legal liability for the cost of repair or replacement in the event of loss due to theft, damage, negligence or misuse. The Library will not assume responsibility for lost files due to viruses, hardware failure and network interruptions.
AVAILABILITY: Laptops are available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. Laptops may also be booked one week in advance via the catalogue, phone or at the Audiovisual desk.
USE: Laptops are lent for in-library use only. Laptops should never be left unattended. Users must abide by the University Internet Code practice.
LOAN PERIOD: The loan period for laptops is 3 hours. Laptops are due 15 minutes before the library closes.
LENDING AGREEMENT: Each time you borrow a laptop, you will be required to fill out a Borrower Agreement For Loan Of Laptop Form (also available at the Audiovisual desk). RENEWALS: Laptops may not be renewed.
ADVANCE BOOKING: Advance bookings of one week for laptops will be accepted via the library web, at the Audiovisual desk and via telephone. Only one booking at a time will be permitted. If the item is not collected within 15 minutes of your booking time, your booking will lapse.
FINES: A fine for the late return of a laptop will accrue at $2.50 for any time up to the 1st hour and $1.00 then for each additional hour late.
REPLACEMENT AND DAMAGE FINES: The user assumes full financial responsibility for a lost, stolen or damaged laptop and accessories as you agreed to when you signed the Borrower Agreement For Loan Of Laptop. Any laptop equipment malfunctions should be reported immediately to library staff. Replacement fees are as follows:

RETURNS: Laptop computers must be returned to staff at the Audiovisual Desk.
USER FILES: Documents should be saved to your USB drive. All user files will be deleted when the laptop is turned off.
