Upon completion, Caribbean Newspapers, 1718-1876 will be the largest online collection of 18th- and 19th-century newspapers published in the Caribbean. This unique primary resource will be particularly significant for research into colonial history, Atlantic slavery, womenís studies, international trade, and other topic areas in 18th- and 19th -century Caribbean studies. Featuring more than 140 newspapers from the 22 islands plus Bermuda, Caribbean Newspapers will chronicle the regionís evolution across two centuries through eyewitness reporting, editorials, legislative information, letters, poetry, advertisements, obituaries and other news items. Most titles in the collection are in English, but a number are also in Spanish, French and Danish. Please note that only part of this collection is currently available to trial and further content is due to be uploaded periodically during 2014.
