Library Authentication
To authenticate yourself as a La Trobe Universty student or staff member, you will need to input your La Trobe University username and password.
What is your username and password?
Students
Your username and password appears on your FIRST statement of account. The password is on the front at the top while your username is on the back at the top. These are used to login to email, Wireless access, StudentOnline, OASIS and LMS.
Do not include Students\ as part of your username.
Staff
This is your Active Directory username and password. These are used to login to email and your work PC.
Do not include LTU\ as part of your username.
What if you forget your password?
The Library is unable to provide assistance if you do not know your password:

You will need to show your student/staff card as proof of identity.
Once you know what your current password is you can register to use the Password Reset Facility. This will allow you to change your password from any computer with access to the Internet.
When is Authentication required in the Library?
You will be asked to authenticate yourself as a La Trobe University student or staff member to do the following:
- request or cancel a hold on items in the catalogue
- make a booking
- access many electronic resources from off campus
- access copyright restricted electronic material on and off campus
- use the wireless facility within the Library.
Having problems?
If you continue to have problems with authenticating using your username and password, then select the alternative option 'Other Borrower' by ticking the other box. This will provide the opportunity to enter your Name, ID Number and Library PIN to authenticate using the old Library method.
