Authentication and Library PIN

Create Your Library PIN

Note: La Trobe University staff and students do not require a Library PIN for authentication.
Exceptions eg. LTM students/staff, casual staff without a La Trobe University username and password.

This is required to allow you access to My Library where you can view/renew loans, holds, fines and borrowing history. It is also be required when making holds, bookings and accessing some online material.

To authenticate yourself as a patron of the La Trobe University Library, you will need to input your La Trobe University ID and your Library PIN.

How to Create your Library PIN

You can create your Library PIN from My Library where you view your loans, holds, fines and borrowing history.

You need to enter the following details:
your family name
your student/staff ID
Casual or Sessional staff La Trobe University ID Number or barcode number - omitting all letters & spaces
Wodonga TAFE clients
MDFRC clients
't' followed by Student/Staff Number from your TAFE card
'm' followed by the last 6 digits of the Library barcode on your ID card
CAVAL Borrowers La Trobe University barcode number on your CAVAL card - omitting all letters & spaces
LTM (La Trobe Melbourne)
students/staff
LTM ID Number or barcode number - omitting all letters and spaces
do not enter a PIN at this time; click on Submit
now enter a PIN
re-enter your PIN to confirm it!
click on Submit.
What if you Forget your Library PIN?

If you forget your PIN, telephone or ask the Library staff at any Campus Inquiry/Loans Desk to remove it from your record.

Library staff cannot tell you what the PIN was as the PIN is encrypted in the system. You will need to create a new PIN as explained above.

If You Have Problems with Your Library PIN

If the screen displays "Invalid PIN" or you have any other problems with your PIN, telephone or ask the Library staff at any Campus Inquiry/Loans Desk for assistance.
