Library Image Database - Search Tips

There are two ways to search, retrieve and display items from the Image Database.

Browse by Course Code

This enables you to select from an alphabetical list of La Trobe University subject codes. (This is the simplest way to browse material which is associated with a particular subject.) Simply click on the course code list and select one of the codes.

Keyword Search

Enter a keyword or keywords in the search window. Then, select an item from the scrollable list, or use another term if unsuccessful.

Slidesets

This capability enables you to assemble a slide-show of images for display and save the 'links' to a file. eg: to display a series of images in a lecture theatre which has access to the internet and is running browser, or Internet Explorer

• Click on the Create Slideset link in the search results page. (This will open a NEW browser session)
• Resize both browser windows to enable you to work across both screens simultaneously
• Key in the image number in the data entry box
• Return to the main search screen and select a new image/s in the normal way
• Add each image to the data entry box, each number separated by a comma ",".
• hen complete, maximise/enlarge the data entry screen and select the desired image display size. (ie: Thumbnail or Full Screen)
• Click on Display images and scroll down through the images.
• If you wish to save your slide show for later use, use the Save As function to save the file. This will allow you to assemble the images again from the web browser.
