Computer facilities at Melbourne
Computer Workstations
The Library has information workstations available on all 3 levels. Access to the Library catalogue and web site is available on all workstations in the Library. Internet access is available on the majority of workstations.
- Most workstations require a login using University student and staff usernames and passwords.
- Full versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint are available on all workstations and can display and enter Asian script.
- Stand-up express workstations available on Level 1 are primarily for searching the Library Catalogue and have a 15 minute time restriction.
- There is a 1 hour time restriction on all other workstations.
- The workstations in Training Room 2.02 on Level 2 are made available for general use when there is no training scheduled.
- There is also specialised equipment in the Equity and Access Rooms on Level 1 for disabled students and staff.
- Users should immediately save or finish printing once the closing announcement is made.
Laptops for loan
20 laptop computers are available for loan from the Inquiry Desk at the Melbourne campus library. The laptops may be borrowed by students and staff of the University.

Audiovisual facilities
- Three scanners are available in the Audiovisual area on Level 2.
- There are workstations in this area that have access to recorded lectures and multimedia software. Some machines are restricted to only the La Trobe University network.
- One Macintosh computer is also available.
- These machines have audio enabled, you must supply your own headphones.
Wireless network
Wireless internet access is available to students and staff throughout the library. Read more details about wireless access in the library.
Printing from workstations
Printers are located on all levels of the Library.
- Printing is available from the majority of workstations and the wireless network.
- Printing can be collected and paid for from any printer by using your Transact La Trobe account or purchasing a visitors casual card at the reload station.
