European Documentation Centre (EDC)
Introduction
The European Union is one of Australia's largest trading partners and is of major economic and political significance to Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. As well, many of Australia's legal, political, historical and constitutional traditions originate from Europe and developments in Europe continue to have many implications for Australian society and the region.
La Trobe University Library became a European Documentation Centre (EDC) in 1975 and has one of the oldest and largest print collections of this material in Australia.
The EDC Collection
- promotes teaching and research in the field of European integration. La Trobe University currently teaches the subject - The European Union, which is a core subject for students enrolled in several Bachelor Of Arts degrees.
- enables access to EU information and awareness of EU policies
- organises EU information for researchers, students and the general public
- acts as a reference point on the EU in the University.
