Mildura Library

The Gambetta Library is a shared facility of La Trobe University, Mildura Campus, and Sunraysia Institute of TAFE. It is situated within the TAFE complex on the 1st floor above the hub.

Facilities for People with Disabilities

The library has lift access, hearing loops and PCs for the vision impaired.

Borrowing Information
  • Borrowers fill out a new registration form each year to be registered at the Gambetta Library
  • A current La Trobe ID card entitles students to borrow materials and use computers.
  • Up to 10 items at a time may be borrowed
  • The loan periods are 3 hour (reserve), 2 day, 7 day and 21 days
  • Staff and students can borrow resources from the Gambetta Library , and can request loans and copies of journal articles from the major campus libraries
  • All intercampus loans must be requested through the Campus Librarian
  • Interlibrary loans may be requested by postgraduate students and staff
Collections

The collections include:

  • Monographs in the main shelves
  • Short loan & reserve for high use material
  • Reference
  • Journals
  • Audiovisual material including CDs, DVDs, cameras and videos.
  • Newspapers
  • Access to the La Trobe Library's electronic material
  • Children's literature and children's non-fiction, and teacher resource materials especially suited to Bachelor of Teaching students
Computers
  • There are 16 computers (TAFE network) and a scanner in the main computer room.
  • There is a small research room with 5 computers connected to the La Trobe network, and a scanner and printer, exclusively for La Trobe students.
Other Equipment
  • Also available in the library are headphones for listening to online lectures, a full range of equipment for data presentation, and video & DVD players. There is a commercially equipped print room for laminating, heat & spiral binding and specialist printing. A bookshop adjoins the circulation desk.
Photocopying and Printing
  • Photocopying is available on state-of-the-art copiers operated by a copy card which can be purchased for an initial cost of $2.00.
  • Printing to TAFE network is by debit from an electronic deposit, and printing to the La Trobe network is by pre-purchased vouchers
Places to Study
  • There are individual study carrels, open area tables, and meeting rooms for group assignments.
