Writing from Below

A peer reviewed, open access, interdisciplinary gender, sexuality and diversity studies journal.

Writing from Below provides a forum for new research on gender and sexuality and the array of intersecting issues that shape their social expression. We invite submissions from as broad a range of disciplines as possible, as well as work that cannot be easily placed. We welcome both academic and creative explorations (theory is art and art, theory, after all). The journal provides a particular venue for the work of postgraduate students and early career researchers.

Call for Papers: Contamination from Above

Unlawfulness, impurity, contamination: in the porous and scattered disciplines of gender, sexuality and diversity studies, these are the forces and strategies that impel our criticism and creation, the ethos of the fugitive journal Writing from Below. For our December 2014 issue (2:2), Writing from Below is calling for papers that address the broad theme of "Contamination from Above".
