Fines Podcast Transcript

Please remember to either renew or return your books by the due date because all overdue items incur fines. Fines differ depending on the type of material borrowed. For example, Reserve items attract a fine of $2.50 for the first hour and $1 for each additional hour overdue. On the other hand, books borrowed for 28 days incur a 20 cent per day fee if returned late.

Fines incurred at other campuses are added to your total, so it is important to be aware of how much you owe. If fines total $10 or more you will not be able to continue borrowing until you pay the full amount owing. If they remain unpaid at the end of the year, you won't be able to re-enrol or graduate, however, if your fines total less than $10 at the end of the year, they will be waived and reset to zero in January.

You can check the due dates of your books by selecting the 'View/Renew my Loans' option on the Library's homepage. Reminders and courtesy notices are also sent to your university email account. Staff members can nominate a different email address if they prefer.

Fines can be paid at a library service desk by cash or cheque. At Bundoora you can also pay by eftpos or credit card.
