Journals and Journal Articles, May 2007 Podcast Transcript

A journal is a publication that contains a collection of articles written by different authors. Journals are often on a particular subject area and are published at regular intervals, such as monthly or quarterly.

A journal article is an individual piece of writing within a journal. Details such as volume number, issue number or month and page numbers tell you exactly where the article is within the journal.

If you are trying to locate a journal article you need to identify the journal title within the citation or reference. The journal title is usually found after the article title.

When you know the journal title, go to the library’s homepage and click on 'Journals'. Enter the journal title in the search box to locate a print or electronic version.

For more information contact your librarian at one of the service desks.
