Plagiarism Podcast Transcript

Plagiarism is using someone else's words, ideas or findings and presenting them in your own work without proper acknowledgement of the source.

Depending on the severity, findings of plagiarism can result in a zero grade for the subject, or piece of work, and even suspension from the university.

To avoid allegations of plagiarism you need to be aware of the specific referencing techniques required by your faculty.

The Library's website has Style Guides available for your subject that will outline how to properly acknowledge sources and what is acceptable when handing in assignments for assessment. You can access Style Guides through the 'HELP' link located at the top of the Library's homepage. A link to the University's Policy on Plagiarism can also be accessed from the Style Guides & Manuals page.

Your Subject Librarian is expert in referencing and will be happy to help clarify any questions you may have.
