Use the Libraries Australia database to see what is held in other libraries. It is a national database of material held in all Australian libraries.You will need a username and password to access the full catalogue – available from the Inquiry Desk.

International Library holdings
Use the WorldCat network to search library catalogue holdings from around the world.Search by author, title, keyword or ISBN.
You can register to use WorldCat and create your own profile and maintain a private list of items owned by libraries.

Available from publishers.- Check Use in other areas/courses; replication using new approaches etc; application and/or further research etc For example, for Law one of the measures of impact could be whether an academic has been quoted in judgments, particularly in the High Court
Google Scholar
Go to Google Scholar Advanced Search. Type in the title of a book and the author’s name in the fields provided. If a result is displayed it may include a “Cited by” link to other publications which have citied the book.- Check Print/circulation runs; Journal’s age; Editor’s affiliation, reputation; Editorial board composition; Publisher; Refereeing policy; Article downloads (some databases will provide on request)

Try the following indexes for book reviews:
These indexes overlap. They cover US, UK, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand journals. A book reviewed in the Alternative Law Journal would be picked up via these indexes. Note that AGIS does not include book reviews.

- QuickLaw Obtain username and password at the Information/Research Help desk
- Click on the QuickLaw Source Directory.
- Click on Canada.
- Click on Commentary.
- Click on Legal Indexes.
- Click on Source ID: ICLB
Book Reviews - Social Sciences and Humanities: Web of Science
- Go to the ISI Web of Knowledge database
- Select the Web of Science
- Select the Cited Reference Search option
- Select the relevant citation database and time span
- Enter the authors name, cited work or year. (Cited work refers to the publication in which the work appeared).
- Click Search to display the Cited Reference selection page, which lists the references that match your search criteria.
- From the Cited Reference selection page you can
- Select references of interest by clicking individual checkboxes
- Click on the Select Page button (which selects all the references on the current page) or
- Click on the Select All button (which selects all references for that name)
- Click on the Finish Search button to retrieve the articles that cite the selected references.
