Library Notices via Email

The Library sends all notices to La Trobe University students' University email account, including overdue notices, recall notices, hold pickup notifications and courtesy reminder notices.
What are Library Notices?
  • Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy when items are overdue.
  • Recall notices are sent to clients if another client has placed a hold on the item. This indicates the item cannot be renewed, and advises the rate at which fines will accrue if the item is kept overdue.
  • Hold Pickup notices are sent to clients to indicate that they can pick up a requested item. Hold Cancellation notices are sent to clients to indicate that a hold has been cancelled.
  • Courtesy notices are sent to clients to inform them that item on loan to them are almost due.
  • Invoices are sent when items have not been returned after a reasonable time. Invoices include an item replacement cost and a billing fee.

The University issues you with a student email address e.g. jcitizen@students.latrobe.edu.au.

You can access your student email from https://owa.latrobe.edu.au/.
Your University email address can be set to automatically forward email to another email address (see the How to Guide).

What is my student email address?

All authorised students have been issued with a username and password on their Statement of Enrolment and also on their HECS Notices. Your username forms the first part of your email address. If you have misplaced your Statement of Enrolment or HECS Notice, please contact Student Centre at your campus.

What are my responsibilities?

It is your responsibility to check your email regularly. Note that for recalled material, this is the only way you will receive notice that material must be returned and cannot be renewed. Students will be held responsible for returning library material by the due date.

The Library will continue to send fines and bills by 'snail' mail.

Also note that students can check and renew loans online. From My Library, students can view items on loan, renew any items due, view holds and fines.

Please direct any queries to the Loans/Inquiry Desks at your campus Library.

Failure to receive notices does not exempt clients from fines incurred on overdue material
