Services for Students on Placement
Many La Trobe University Library resources and services are available online, including access to the catalogue, electronic journals, databases and Internet resources.
Additional University Library services are offered to students who are undertaking placements within their course of study. For example, clinical or work experience and teaching practice.
This service is available to undergraduate, fourth year or postgraduate students in any Faculty. Eligible students can request off campus document delivery services from the La Trobe University Library collection for the duration of the placement period.
Fourth year or postgraduate students may also request loans and copies of journal articles not held at La Trobe that will be supplied from other libraries via the Interlending and Document Delivery Service.
Who is eligible for this service?
Undergraduates, fourth-year or post graduate students who are undertaking clinical or practical placement off campus.
Students eligible for this service must meet all the following criteria
- The placement must be 4 or more consecutive weeks (ie 20 working days)
- During the placement there is no attendance requirement at the home campus

How to request books, articles and other items
Log in via the Interlending and Document Delivery Service with your University Username and Password.
How long will it take?
Documents are delivered electronically usually within 1-2 business days.
Charges
There are no charges for the delivery of documents, it is a free service to eligible students.
Assistance from Librarians
Librarians can guide you in the use of reference resources and databases which are available to you in the Library relevant to your assignment topics.
Assistance with complex subject queries is also available by contacting your relevant Subject Librarian or Campus Librarian.
Delivery of Documents
Documents (scanned chapters and articles) are delivered electronically for retention. An email alert will advise when a document is available for download as a PDF file.
