Shepparton Library

The Shepparton campus library is a shared facility of the La Trobe University (Shepparton) and Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE).

Collections
  • The library maintains a core collection of resources to cater for students studying courses at the Shepparton campus. Students also have access to a wide range of electronic resources through the Library web site.
Borrowing Information

  • Undergraduate students are able to borrow 10 resources for a two week loan period.

    Postgraduate students may borrow 15 items for a two week loan period.

    One renewal is permitted before the item becomes overdue, providing the item has not been reserved by another student.

    Videos and DVDs are only available for overnight loan.

    High use materials are placed in Open Reserve and may be used within the library but not borrowed.

    Once an item has become overdue, borrowing rights are withdrawn until the item is returned.

    Holds may be placed on items out on loan. Students are contacted by phone when the item has been returned and is available for loan.

    Intercampus loans of resources from other La Trobe University libraries may be arranged through the Campus Librarian.

Facilities for People with Disabilities

  • Students with particular needs are requested to contact library staff at the circulation desk for assistance with catalogue searching, photocopying or moving chairs aside for wheelchair access to computers.
    La Trobe library computer 1 has TextAloud software while all GOTAFE computers have TextHelp. Both of these programs allow word documents, pdf files or webpages to be read aloud.

Computers

  • The Library has four computers connected to the La Trobe network.
    Students may also use GOTAFE computers to access internet resources.

Photocopying and Printing
  • There are two printers available in the library. The La Trobe printer requires students to have print credits on their campus computer account. Alternatively, students may use the Monitor printing system by adding money to their student card. Creating a PIN number in Monitor will then allow printing from the GOTAFE computers in the library and also enable photocopying.
Places to Study

  • The Library provides tables for student study where quiet group discussion is permitted.
    There are some study carrels for individual study and a group study area is available to students within the Periodical Room.
