"This historical investigation investigated whether there were children, young people and adults who were exposed to failure or abuse while they were staying in institutions for the special and mentally retarded under the care of the state in the period 1933-1980. The study was carried out on the basis of the terms of reference issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Elderly on 22 November 2019 and was financed by the ministry.
The investigation was carried out on behalf of Denmark's Welfare Museum in the period March 2020 – March 2022 by an independent research group."
