The Works of Solage

Three of the ten works by Solage in Ch suggest that he was close to the French royal family during the 1380s. `S'aincy estoit' is dedicted to Jean, Duke of Berry. Two further ballades probably allude to Catherine of France.

Pluseurs gens voy qui leur pensee Ballade
S'aincy estoit que ne feust la noblesce Ballade
Tres gentil cuer amoureux, attraians Virelai
