Text

Fa metter bando e comandar Amore
a ciaschedun'amanza over amante.
celato 'l tenga in fatti ed in sembiante;

e che niun si rimanga d'amare
perch'a lui non ne paia esser cambiato.
ch'Amor vuol che chi ama sia amato;

e che niun amante si disperi
per lung'amar, chT, giugnendo a l'effetto.
ogni suo pena tornera in diletto.

sappiendo chi fara contra la legge
sara privato, se non si corregge.

Translation

Love had a degree issued, and a command
to every woman or man who is in love.
that they should keep him secret, in deed and appearance;

and that no one should stop loving
because they don't seem to be requited.
since Love wants that those who love be loved;

and that no one in love should despair
through long loving, since, coming to fruition.
every sorrow shall change into pleasure.

Those should know, who will act against the law.
that they'll be punished, unless they mend their ways.
