Donna che d'amor senta non si mova
ad amar ciaschedun che guarda lei:
quanto son rei
chi 'l sa fatt'ha la prova.

Mostran con gli ochi a gli ochi amor sentire
e poi, per me' tradire.
gittan sospir gravosi.
Tempo nT loco non guardan se dire;
posson farne morire
mostrandosi angosciosi.

si vantan che noi portiam dentro al core

Chi 'l sa fatt'ha la prova.

Translation

Let any woman who knows about love
not rush to love all men who look at her:
how wicked they are
all know it who have tried it.

They pretend to be in love by gazing eye to eye
and then, better to betray.
they heave grievous sighs.
They have their say at any time or place;
they can make us die
by showing that they are anguished.
And if they see compassion in our eyes
they boast
that we carry their love within our hearts.
All know it who have tried it.
