Text

Appress'un fiume chiaro
donne e donzelle ballavan d'intorno
ad un perlaro di be' fiori adorno.

Tra queste una ne vidi
bella e zentil e amorosa tanto.
che'l cor mi tolse con soave canto.

ANNAmorar mi fa tuo viso umano
e'l dolce guardo e la pulita mano.

Translation

By a clear river.
women and girls were dancing
around a Persian lilac full of beautiful flowers.

I saw one among them.
so fair and gentle and lovable
that her sweet singing took away my heart.

Your merciful face, your sweet look
and your neat hand made me fall in love with you.
