Text

In verde prato a padiglion tenduti
danzar vidi, cantando, dolze tresca
donne e amanti su per l'erba fresca.

Con tanta chiarita donna m'aparve.
ch'i' presi lena imaginando donde
venissen s8 begli occhi e trezze bionde.

MerzT, che 'l tuo poder, Amor, mi vaglia!

Translation

On a green field, under stretched pavilions.
I saw women and their lovers dance
on the fresh grass (lovely dance!) and sing meanwhile.

A woman appeared to me of such pure beauty
that I gasped, thinking where such beautiful eyes
and fair tresses might come from.

May your power, o Love, give me strength!
