Lo lume vostro, dolce mio segnore.
virtute sic perfecte est ornatum.
ch'a' rei non luce, a' boni sempr'F chiaro.

Hoc est notum et satis [est] probatum
in quegli c'han sentito il gusto amaro
nascosamente per comporre errore.

Una donna vi regge, ch'F si bella:
sul ciel no F posta pi· lucente stella.

Translation

Your light, my sweet Lord, is adorned with such perfect virtue
that it does not shine for the guilty
but is always shining for the righteous.

As much is known and satisfactorily proven
to those who have tasted bitterness
because they tried to compound for hidden mistakes.

A woman rules over you who is so beautiful;
there's no brighter star in heaven.
