Text

a la tuo gran bilta ognor presente;
per= che la mia voglia

tal m'avier= in fin ch'io andr= in fondo.
sicur vo' sempre il tuo amor giocondo;
nel cor mi saria doglia
se tu pensassi d'altro amante ch'io. -

Translation

"Although it pains me much to leave you.
o radiance of my heart.
always within me I carry your desire.

And though I cannot always be before
your perfect beauty, do not be afraid
that my mind may from you ever be parted;
yet may it please you that, as I am with you
you be with me; because my desire
craves for nought else but your gentle face."

"O lover, do not think that I could leave
your love for any man in the whole world.
And though to another I be bound by contract
and such I be to the end of my life.
I wish always to enjoy your steadfast love:
there would be sorrow in my heart if you
thought of another lover but myself."
